We had an assembly right before the race began. We contacted a man that does compete in some dog sled races. He spoke to each of the classes and brought his son and three of his dogs as special guests. He also demonstrated how the dogs pull and listen to commands as well as showing us how the dogs he brought were attached to the sled. It was a very informative session and what a motivator to continue to do our research for this project.

We also are sending you a picture of our bulletin board completed by the four third grade classes. The sled that you see is one of the third grade teachers personal one. He too has his dog interested in sledding. Two of the four teacher's pets are race dogs! No wonder this is such an interest to all of us! Our Elementary School is K-5 and almost 500 children, who are all aware of this project. We are following this race closely and incorporating it in all our content areas! What a great time we are having! Thanks for having us participate!
