Here are the directions we followed:
1) Study the musher biographies online
2) Have your class select one musher you will follow throughout the race
3) Email your choice to Walter by Monday, February 26, 2001
4) Mushers and classes will be posted here before the start of the race!
Another great strategy some of us used:
Have each student select their own musher to follow within the classroom. This will promote more critical thinking as the race plays itself out. You would still have one main musher the entire class is following for the eIditarod project, but students would also have a vested interest in following a second musher individually. In this way, as you receive an email from the trail offering a problem solving task for your class musher, you can extend the experience by having students individually complete the task for their individual mushers too!
