George Washington was 7 when he started school. He had no college background. He went to a one-room school. One teacher taught all ages of children. When George was 11 his father dies. He ahd to stay with his older brother Lawrence. Lawrence lived in a big farm called Mount Vernon. when George was 16 he began surveying.
