George Washington lived in many different places in Virginia.  He was born at Pope's Creek, which is a farm, and lived their till he was three.  Then George moved to Mount Vernon which was also a farm, for another three years.  Then he moved to Ferry Farms.  While he lived at Ferry Farms he learned to farm he also learned to ride horses. When George was eleven his father died.  After that he went to live with his brother Lawrence.  With Lawrence and his family he lived at Mount Vernon.
As a kid George loved to ride horses.  George learned to groom and care for horses. When George was younger he didn't care about politics, and who ruled America He was more interested in playing with his friends.   In school  he did well and was interested in mapping and surveying.   George  would have thought that some day he would lead our nation into independance or become the first president of America.
One day George Washington found some suveying tools.  He surveyed the turnip field and the pine forest.  Then he decided he liked surveying.  George got a job surveying when he was young.  George Washington got his first job when he was sixteen.   He surveyed fields and anything else that needed to be surveyed.   That was his job until he was twenty-one when he joined the army.
