| On December 26, 1972,
Harry S. Truman died of heart failure in Kansas City, Missouri. He
was 88 years old, but he left a great legacy behind him.
The Harry S. Truman Library and Museum is located in Independence, Missouri and sits on a hill. The library and museum preserves the papers, books, and other historical information about President Harry S. Truman. One attraction is a reproduction of the Oval Office. That is where President Truman made most of his important decisions. He never passed the buck! You can also view a 45 minute film about President Truman and his life in the State of Missouri Auditorium. |

into the Library and Museum, you are greeted by a mural painted by Thomas

The Truman Courtyard
is a nice garden area that has a flame that continually burns as a memory
of Harry S. Truman. The flame is called the Flame of Freedom.
At the back of the courtyard, you can even visit the gravesites of Harry
and Bess Truman.
