Harry loved his daughter.
Special thanks to Mr. Michael Hosking, Museum Technician with the Harry S. Truman National Historic Site, for allowing us to use his photos.  He works for the National Park Service & the U.S. Department of the Interior.  Without his assistance, we could not show you the inside of Harry S. Truman's home in Independence, Missouri.  Carol J. Dage, Museum Curator, was also a big help too!
The Truman Home
Harry anThis is a picture of the Truman home.  On the left is the fireplace in the living room.  Bess's favorite portrait of Harry hangs above the fireplace for everyone to see.
This is a picture of Margaret's piano.  Harry and Bess gave the piano to their daughter on Christmas when she was just eight years old.  Margaret wanted an electric train instead.
This is how the Truman table looked when formal dinner parties were given.  The Trumans enjoyed their evening meals in their dining room.  They usually hired help to prepare their evening meal.
Truman's Study
Harry and Bess liked to read together every day.  Harry sat in the chair on the left, and Bess liked to sit in the right chair.
Truman's Kitchen
Harry and Bess always cooked and ate their own breakfast and lunch in their kitchen.  They set the table each day just like it is shown in the picture.
