James Madison enrolled in Donald Robertson’s School in 1762. He was home schooled by a preacher. He attended the college of New Jersey that is now Princeton University.  In 1771 he graduated from college after attending for only 2 years. When he and his friend Joe Ross finished college Joe died. This made James very sad. He got into politics because he was excited to help the colonies to be free from England.
