Andrew Jackson's father died before he was born.
His mother was Elizabeth Hutchinson Jackson. She died when
he was a teenager. Jackson was the first president born in a log cabin.
He was from a poor family. Andrew Jackson studied law
for
four years. While he was practicing law in Tennessee, he
lived in a boarding house owned by the family of Rachel Donelson
Robards, his future wife. Jackson married in 1791 and adopted one son,
Andrew Jackson, Jr.
