Family

U. S. Grant married Julia Boggs Dent on August 22nd, 1848. They met when he was attending the United States Military Academy at West Point. She was his classmate's sister.

Their children:

Frederick Dent Grant was their oldest son. He was born in 1850 and died in 1912.

Ulysses Simpson Grant was born in 1852 and died in 1929.

Ellen Wrenshall Grant was also known as Nellie. She was born 1855 and died in 1922.

Jesse Root Grant, the youngest, was named after his grandfather. He was born in 1858 and died in 1934.

From 1854 to 1861 he left the Army to be with his family. His family was really supportive of his many jobs.
