George H. W. Bush

Home State

George H. W. Bush was born in Milton, Massachusetts; but  he moved to Texas which  he claims as his home state. His nickname was Poppy. He was our 41st president. For two centuries his home state worked on freedom. Texas was once part of Mexico and later a sovereign country.

Two of his sons were elected governors of large states, George W. as governor of Texas and Jeb as governor of Florida. George W. Bush, whose home state is also Texas, became president in 2001.

In  1943, George H. W. Bush was commissioned as the youngest pilot in U.S. Navy history. September 2, 1944  the plane he was piloting was shot down by Japanese fire while on mission in the Pacific during World War II.
