on the Plaza . . .

The Seville Light Fountain and
The Pomona Courtyard

Photos and drawings were created by Liesa Schroeder's students at Santa Fe Trail Elementary School, Independence Missouri School District.

The Seville Light Fountain was installed in 1967 and is considered to be the official gateway to the Country Club Plaza. It is located on a triangular traffic island and is an exact replica of a light in Seville, Spain. It contains three kinds of marble and ironwork. It rises to a height of 40 feet.

T he Pomana Courtyard is an open styled courtyard dedicated to Pomona, the Roman Goddess of Fruit. A standard Oil gas station was removed o build this courtyard in the 1960s. This spacious courtyard contains ornate brass benches, a star shaped window, and the Pomana Fountain.
