Edward
Buehler Delk was the architect commissioned by J.C. Nichols in 1922 to
design the Plaza. he inserted a signature tile in the wall of one of the
first buildings constructed on the Plaza, located on West 47th Street.

on the Plaza . . .E.B. Delk and Gargoyles
Photos and drawings were created by Liesa Schroeder's students at Santa
Fe Trail Elementary School, Independence Missouri School District.

The
Plaza has many interesting architectural details and embellishments, such
as the Gargoyle Bas-Relief located on the Balcony building on West 47th
Street. You have to look up high to find this interesting site. It was originally
used as a waterspout to drain water off the rooftop of the building.
