Thomas Jefferson's emblem adorns this gate into the cemetary found just below Monticello on the way back down the little mountain.



As you stand in front of Monticello you can't help but raise your eyes to take in the beautiful roofline as it cuts a sharp outline against the beauitful Virginia sky. Notice the detail of the cornice and the columns as you follow across the edge of the house.

Consider these different views of the columns at Monticello. Do they appear to be faithful to Jefferson's sketches? What style of column did he use in the construction of his beloved home?
